About Ken Huff Builders

As a former offensive guard with the Baltimore Colts and the Washington Redskins, Ken enjoys being in the middle of the action. He also likes to personally make sure that his homes are built right.
Ken has always been interested in construction. He had summer jobs with architects during his high school years in San Diego, where he was a star football player. A family friend, who was an admiral in the Navy and had gone through the ROTC program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, sent film of Ken in action to the Carolina football coaches, and they liked what they saw. Once Ken visited the campus and attended a Carolina-Duke basketball game, he knew he wanted to be a Tar Heel. He graduated in 1975 with a reputation as one of Carolina’s all-time great linemen.
Ken was drafted by Baltimore in the first round, where he played for eight seasons before being traded to Washington. He played in the Super Bowl in 1983 and retired from football in 1986.
Following his retirement from the NFL, Ken established his own custom home building company in Northern Virginia. In 1993 Ken and his family decided to move back to the home of his alma mater. He built their home in the Treyburn golf community in Durham, and he started Ken Huff Builders, Inc. “It was always at the back of my mind to come back to this area, and it was a great decision,” Ken said. Since then, Ken Huff Builders, Inc. has completed homes in every price range in prestigious neighborhoods such as the Governors Club, Treyburn, The Reserve, and others in the Durham/Chapel Hill area.
“Things have really taken off since coming back to Carolina. I really enjoy the kind of product you can build here. People want and expect the finest – the kind of home that you are proud to have built.”
Ken carefully oversees each of his projects with attention to detail and concern for his clients. Ken only builds 4-6 houses per year to ensure that he can personally supervise all phases of construction. Providing the client with a quality product is the number one priority for Ken. From the foundation to the fine finishing features of your home, you can be assured that Ken only uses the finest craftsmen in the area that are committed to providing the high caliber work that Ken expects. In fact, Ken Huff Builders, Inc. won the Governors Club Builder of the Year award in 2000 and 2005.
